It’s back-to-school season here at Hall Neighborhood House, and our programs are in full swing! Over the past month, we’ve celebrated graduations, offered comprehensive training to staff, and continued to reach out to our community with resources and opportunities.

This fall, we’re especially thankful for Marco R. Constante, Joseph L. Gaudett, Jr., and Christopher Rickard, DC—three of our board members who will be rolling off this month. Thank you for your leadership, wisdom, guidance, and dedicated service to our community!

We are also so grateful to each of you for your partnership as we meet our neighbors’ needs, and we look forward to an exciting new season full of learning, growth, adventure, and exploration. If you want to see what we’re up to, I encourage you to stop by and visit. We’d love to show you around!

Celebrating Early Learning Program graduation

Congratulations to the 66 amazing students who graduated from our Early Learning Program and are headed to kindergarten! We are so proud of these amazing young learners and can’t wait to cheer them on as they start this exciting new chapter.

Continued learning for our staff

Every year, our Early Learning Program and Youth teachers and staff dedicate a week in August to professional development and preparation for the new school year. Staff receive comprehensive training on a wide variety of topics and up-to-date information on current techniques and policies to provide high-quality care in their classrooms.

Some of this year’s training focused on improving family communication, developing higher-level questioning for our preschoolers, and scaffolding language for our infants and toddlers. Staff also reviewed state childcare policies and nutritional guidelines.

Expanding STEM programs across Bridgeport

We continue to bring The Alan Wallack STEM Learning Centers to schools across our community, equipping them with the tools and resources they need to provide exceptional science, technology, engineering, and math education. This month, we are proud to bring these opportunities to Luis Munoz Marin Elementary, Read School, Beardsley School, Classical Studies (K-8th grades), Geraldine Johnson Elementary, Barnum School, Waltersville School, Columbus School, Roosevelt School, and Cesar Batalla School.

Thank you, volunteers!

Incoming freshmen at St. Joseph High School helped our Early Learning Program prepare for the fall and worked on projects around the building. Thank you so much, St. Joseph freshmen!

In addition, an incredible team of nursing students and faculty from Sacred Heart University volunteered with our Senior Center and Early Learning programs! We are so grateful for the ways our amazing volunteers have helped our entire community get ready for the new school year. Building a new playground

We are so excited to have begun construction on our new playground! Children in our programs cannot wait to enjoy this upgraded place to play—and we are so grateful to our community for helping us make it happen.

Looking back on a fun-filled summer

Youth had an amazing summer at Summer Camp, including field trips to go rock climbing, explore nature, jump for joy at the trampoline park, and more. They also completed an entrepreneurship fair, tons of art projects, and endless activities here at Hall. It was awesome to witness their enthusiasm all summer!

Thank you for being part of our community. We are so grateful for you!
